‘VIRGIN LAVENDER’ -SUCHISMITA SAHOO PAINTINGS UNVEIL THE FEMALE ENTITY
Suchismita Sahoo‘s works on Canvas and photographic print are on display alongwith a few installations at the Visual Art Gallery. On view from February 24 till 28 February, 2018 at the Visual Art Gallery, India Habitat Center, the exhibition is a solo show of Suchismita’s work. The paintings on Canvas,Fabric and photographs represents a thorough study of the Concepts, materials and processes of one of the emerging contemporary women artists of the present times in India.
Chronologically, Virgin Lavender, the exhibition of Suchismita revolves around her keen observation on specific set of lifestyles issues concentrating more on the Female entity. The works chronologically displays her endeavour to give those underlying emotions, which remain hidden in the womb of nature, a living entity. The works affirm the artist’s role as a bridge between indian European cultures and brings out hidden emotions of both the cultures so that its designs, ideas, innovations, and lifestyle are prominently displayed . In her own words ”My artwork speaks, not only for me, but for people who were long ago silenced in distant cultures of the world. Overall my works are an amalgamation of paintings and photographs which culminates in not only art exhibitions but also fashion photography with a mixed composition of fine art and contemporary fashion. My techniques on canvass are realistic in approach. I try to bring fine art into fashion photography by creating concepts in my photography. My art works, (painting, installations) and photography, are an amalgamation of the same subjects and a game of light and shades.” The words are just a hint of her creative skills. The aesthetics and Creative concepts are Unique and can be only felt, once a viewer observes minutely each work. The photographs series have captured day to day nuances, which everyone of us undergo, but we hardly ponder over the spiritual significance.
Across all these works, Suchismita hopes to suggest the possibility of an expanded experience of viewing,a view of the images that exist within painting and photography , where the viewer’s own physical movement and emotions offers additional vistas, imaginary or not. In Suchismita’s hands, introspecting the past lays the groundwork for a path forward, giving a glimpse not only into what could have been, but visions for what might be.
