FORMER TISCO CHAIRMAN RUSSI MODI DIES AT 96

Russi Modi also known as the ‘ Steelman of Jamshedpur‘ to many journalists died at the age of 96.Russi was born on January 17, 1918,in Mumbai to a Parsi family to the parents of Sir Homi Mody Lady Jerbai Mody ne Dubash and made Kolkata his first home and greatly contributed to his first city.

Russi Modi joined TISCO as a trainee graduate  in late 30s and rose to the post of  chairman and guided the company to No.1 steel maker in India.

The body was taken today to ‘Peace Haven’ and will be kept for public viewing at his Alipur residence between 1000 to 1100 hours tomorrow.

The cremation will be held at the Keoratolla Burning Ghat and ashes will be taken to Jamshedpur tomorrow.
