Shah has lunch at Dalit house: ‘Food cooked elsewhere’

BJP national president Amit Shah on Friday had lunch at a Dalit party worker’s house in a bid to woo the community ahead of the Gujarat and Rajasthan assembly elections.

Shah and chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar reached the house of party worker Tarawati Chahar in Hanuman Colony to have what they called “a simple lunch.” They were served roti, cauliflower and rice and monsoon delicacy ghevar. The BJP claimed Chahar was informed only two hours before lunchtime. The party said it was his way of telling the country that the BJP treats all its party workers equally. Sources said 10 Dalit workers had given their names for this. The(AAP alleged that the lunch served to Shah and other BJP leaders was cooked at Tilyar Lake by professional chefs and was checked by a team of doctors before being taken to the Dalit party worker’s house. Party convener Naveen Jaihind said Shah had disrespected Dalits by doing this.

The BJP, however, rubbished his claim.
