MUKTA DATTA TOMAR APPOINTED NEXT AMBASSADOR TO GERMANY

Ms Mukta Datta Tomar (IFS:1984) appointed as next Ambassador of India to the Federal Republic of Germany. Currently she serves as Additional Secretary (Administration) at MEA HQ, New Delhi.

If some well-placed sources are to be believed she is considered as S Jaishankar’s favorite. She gets such an important assignment (Germany) without having any prior experience of ambassadorial assignment. Secondly, it is considered something extraordinary as Ambassadorial posting in Germany is usually given after secretary empanelment. Ms Tomar is still waiting in the wings which would take place only after the empanelment of 1984-1985 batch IAS would take place this month.
