DELHI POLICE GOES FAST TRACK RECRUITS 1434 WOMEN POLICE OFFICIALS
Delhi Police recruits 1434 women police officials on fast track.
Delhi Police has completed the recruitment of 1434 women police officials on a dedicated fast track mode.
After the Nirbhaya unfortunate incident, 776 posts of women Constables were sanctioned by the Ministry of Home Affairs and 522 posts of Constables (Male) were converted into women Constable. Immediately Delhi Police put an initiative and issued advertisement in the newspapers, including Employment News, on an all India basis. The PEMT (Physical Endurance and Physical Measurement Test) was conducted at 10 locations spread through out the country. The locations were, Thiruananthapuram (Kerala), Nagpur (Maharashtra), Gauhati (Assam), Kolkata (West Bengal), Patna (Bihar), Lucknow (UP), Chennai (Tamil Nadu), Hyderabad (AP), Bangaluru (Karnataka) and Delhi. In total 6058 women candidates through out the country qualified in the PEMT. A written test was conducted on 13.7.2014 and today, 1434 women candidates through out the country have been selected as woman Constable (Executive) for Delhi Police. These 1434 posts include, 136 vacancies on account of retirement, promotion etc. in the women cadre.
The women candidates selected in various categories are 748 in general category, 380 OBC, 197 SC and 109 ST. Beside it, an additional list of 72 candidates have also been declared in case if a candidate do not join from the main list, then candidate from the additional list will be picked up. This has been done in order to ensure that the post in the cadre should not remain vacant on account of non-joining of selected candidates. The candidates are being informed individually and being called for medical examination and police verification of character and antecedents etc.
The women police so selected across the country are having very good academic educational qualification. Out of total 1434, 30 are post-graduates, 336 are graduates and several other are having additional professional qualifications. This selection will enhance the representation of women in Delhi Police from 7.18% to 8.9%.
