DELHI POLICE ARRESTS BOOTLEGGER SEIZES 52 CARTON OF ILLICIT LIQUOR DURING ELECTIONS TIME

The police team of PS R K Puram, South District has arrested a bootlegger viz. Sanjay Kumar, age 27 years  r/o Faridabad, Haryana and seized 52 cartoons of illicit liquor and Alto Car used in crime.

 

Brief facts :

 

In view of forthcoming MCD elections checkings were intensified and beat / picket staff was briefed to be vigilant and alert on duty and gear up their resources to get clues about illegal activities.  A team consisting of Insp. Vijaypal Dahiya, SI Mahesh Kumar, SI Hari Ram, HC Sanjiv Kumar, HC Mahesh and Ct Shiv Karan led by Inspr. Harish Kukreti, SHO/R K Puram under the supervision of Sh Anand Kumar Rai, ACP/Safdarjung Enclave was also constituted to curb the transportation of illicit liquor.

 

On 21.04.17, during vehicle checking at 5:30 AM at Somnath Marg, Sector-7/8, R K Puram, the police team noticed that driver of an Alto car, on seeing the police checking was reversing the car.  Immediately, the police team swung into action and overpowered the driver who was identified as Sanjay Kumar s/o Ramesh r/o Village Anangpur, PS Surajkund, Faridabad, Haryana. On search, 52 cartoons of illicit liquor (containing 2394 quarters and 48 beer bottles) were recovered from Alto car.  On inspection of the Alto Car, it was revealed that it was modified in such manner that in normal view, it seems empty.  A case vide FIR No 110/17, dated 21.04.17, u/s 33/58 Delhi Excise Act PS R K Puram was registered and investigation taken up.

 

Interrogation :

 

During interrogation, accused Sanjay Kumar disclosed that one Praveen Kumar and his associate Ajad used to give him illicit liquor loaded in the car at Haryana Border to deliver the same in in South Delhi. He further disclosed that they used to pay him Rs 1500/- for each trip.  Further investigation is in progress to trace and arrest accused Praveen Kumar and Ajad.

 

Recoveries:

 

  • 52 cartons of illicit liquor (containing 2394 quarters and 48 beer bottles).
  • Alto Car used in transportation of illicit liquor.
