DELHI GOVERNMENT INCREASES AID UNDER VARIOUS SCHEMES FOR WELFARE OF CONSTRUCTION WORKERS-GOPAL RAI

Aid under various government schemes has been increased for welfare of Construction  workers: Gopal Rai

 

  • A Cheque of Rs. 15 crore has been handed over to Education Department for the education and welfare  of children of construction workers

 

  • Financial help is increased for the marriage of daughters of Construction workers: Gopal Rai

 

  • Maternity benefits  is increased from Rs.10,000  to Rs 30,000

 

  • Nirman Shramik Sammelan organizes at Chhatrasal Stadium

 

  • Home Construction loan facility increased to Rs 3 lakh  for the Construction workers

New Delhi:

Delhi Labour Minister Shri Gopal Rai today said that the Aid under various government schemes has been increased for the welfare of Construction workers under various government schemes. He was addressing in a function of Nirman Shramik Sammelan organized by Labour Department at Chhatrasal Stadium at Model Town in the north-west Delhi. Shri Rai also said that the financial help is increased for the marriage of daughters of Construction workers from Rs. 10,000 / to Rs. 51,000 /-, Maternity benefits amount increased from Rs. 10,000  to Rs. 30,000  and  Home loan facility has been increased to Rs 03 lakh for registered construction workers.

On this occasion Shri Gopal Rai has also given a cheque amounting of Rs. 15 Crores to Education Department so that amount will be made available for the 26451 registered Construction Labourers children studying in 266 schools of the capital. In addition, the Directorate of Education has been preparing a data base of registered Construction Labourers children for year 2014-15 so that the financial assistance will also be available for their education.

 

Labour Minister  further said that on the occasion of Labour Day “Shramik  Vikash mission “was launched by the Delhi government, This mission works for the health, safety and welfare of construction workers in all aspects of the society. To solve their problems Workers toll free Helpline no. ‘155214’ has been also launched. The labour help line number has received 715 complaints, of which 577 complaints have been settled, remaining 198 have been forwarded to regional labour offices for further action and settlement. Delhi Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board yet registered 2 lakh 81 thousand workers of which one lakh 14 thousand workers have made their registration renewed.

The minister also said that it was found that the some false registration has been made in Delhi building and other construction workers welfare board for those who were not construction worker, it is a serious issue which is being carried and investigated by the labour office and strict action will be taken against the guilty persons. He said that the Construction Workers Board cess money should be made only for the welfare of construction workers and cess money also not to be utilized in any welfare scheme of the Government.
