AUTO-THIEVES GANG BUSTED WITH THE ARREST OF TWO.
SELLING STOLEN CARS AND BIKES IN MAYAPURI KABADI MARKET AFTER CONVERTING INTO SCRAPS.
15 BIKES AND TWO CARS RECOVERED.
Crime Branch has busted a gang of auto thieves with the arrest of two persons namely Avtar Singh (24 yrs) Nilothi Extn., Delhi and Arif @ Raju (30 yrs) r/o JJ Colony, Hastsal, Uttam Nagar, who were stealing motor vehicles, dismantling and selling them into scraps to avoid detection. 17 vehicles, including 15 two wheelers and 2 cars, recovered from them.
INFORMATION, TEAM & OPERATION:-
Central Range of Crime Branch was tasked to mount surveillance, detect and arrest auto thieves to check motor vehicle thefts in Delhi. A dedicated team led by ACP H.M. Bakshi consisting of Inspr. Subhash Vats, SI Lokender Singh, HCs Pramod, Dinesh, Sudhir, Pawan, Sanjay, Kallu, Cts Ghanshyam, Surya Prakash, Anil, Ankit, Satender, Ajay and Neeraj was constituted under the supervision of DCP M.A. Rizvi in this regard.
HC Sanjay Tyagi and Ct Ghanshyam developed the information through a secret informer that two persons, who have been recently released on bail and are habitual offenders, were indulged in stealing motor vehicles and converting them into scraps in their remotely located garage at Mundka Delhi. This information was further developed and it was learnt that both the thieves have collected many vehicles in their garage and they are converting them into scraps for selling the same. Accordingly, a raid was conducted in the garage and the accused Avtar Singh and his associate Arif were apprehended who were dismantling Accent car No DL-9CH-0021. There were 15 bikes including two scooties and one more car in the garage which were already dismantled.
On sustained interrogation, both the accused persons disclosed that all the vehicles found in the garage were stolen by them from the area of Tilak Nagar, Vikas Puri, Rajouri Garden and Hari Nagar, Delhi. They further disclosed that they have hired the garage on rent and used to dispose off the stolen vehicles after dismantling them and converting them into scraps to avoid detection. They further disclosed that they use to sell the scrap in Maya Puri market to scrap dealers at the rate of Rs.13 per kg. The scrap of one medium car is usually weights about 1300 kg whereas that of a big car is about 1800 kg.
Arif has been recently released on bail in a murder case of PS Ranhola whereas Avtar Singh is on bail in MV theft cases. They had met in jail in the year 2013-14 and became intimate. After release on bail, they started stealing motor vehicles to earn money. The concerned police stations have been informed for suitable action in this regard.
