A driver in England told police he crashed his brand new luxury sports car just about an hour after he bought it.
South Yorkshire Police shared photos of the totaled Ferrari 430 Scuderia after the car had veered off the roadway and burst into flames.
“Road conditions were wet at the time and as officers arrived on scene it became clear there was a vehicle well alight and colleagues from South Yorkshire Fire & Rescue were in attendance squirting water all over some kind of sporty motor some 50 or so meters down a banking,” police said.
Curious officers asked the driver what kind of car it was, as the vehicle was barely recognizable following the crash.
“It was a Ferrari,” the driver told police. “I’ve only just got it, picked it up an hour ago.”
Despite the severe damage to the brand new sports car, officers said the man was very lucky to have walked away from the scene with only minor cuts and bruises.
“Over the past couple of weeks there has been a number of collisions where driving styles have not reflected the road weather conditions,” police said. “Please take more care!”
After speaking to witnesses police added that “officers do not believe excess speed was a contributory factor in this collision.”
