10% INCREASE IN WATER TARRIFF W.E.F 15TH JAN,2015 ONE OF THE DECISION TAKEN IN 120TH BOARD MEETING OF DELHI JAL BOARD

The 120th Board Meeting of the DJB focuses on the improvement of its service-delivery mechanism and Water and Wastewater Infrastructure

The 120th Board meeting of the Delhi Jal Board, held on 9th January 2015 was chaired by Sh. Rajendra Kumar, Secretary, Department of Urban Development, Govt. of NCT of Delhi. Sh. Vijay Kumar, the CEO, DJB and other senior members of the Board were also present at the meeting. In the meeting, the Board discussed various projects to be undertaken to improve the service delivery mechanism in the water and wastewater sector.

Rehabilitation of sewer line
To ensure the efficient functioning of its water and wastewater infrastructure, the Delhi Jal Board undertakes various rehabilitation works in a phased manner. In consonance with this, the Board accorded administrative approval for the rehabilitation of the sewer line from B-II Block, Madangir to Andrews Ganj Pumping Station, at an estimated total cost of Rs. 41.77 crores. After rehabilitation of this sewer line, sewerage system in the area will improve, this will eventually provide big relief to the residents of the area.

Improvement of the sewerage network
In order to improve the sewerage system in Inderpuri and nearby areas, the Board gave its approval for the construction of a peripheral sewer line from Dasghara Village upto Satya Park, Naraina Industrial Area at an estimated total cost of Rs. 13.16 crores.

Providing and laying of water lines
To improve the water supply situation in the command area of Mangolpur Kalan UGR/BPS, the Board accorded approval for providing and laying of DI Feeder main and peripheral water main in the command area of Mangolpur Kalan UGR/BPS at an estimated total cost of Rs. 3.26 crores. After the implementation of this scheme, the residents of Mangolpur Kalan village will get water at good pressure.

10 % annual increase in Water Tariff w.e.f. 1st January 2015
The proposal regarding the 10% annual increase in the water tariff due on 1st January, 2015 was brought up before the Board for discussion. The matter was deferred to the next Board meeting.
