AJIT PAWAR GETS CLEAN CHIT BY SIT IN IRRIGATION PROJECTS IRREGULARITIES

Mumbai: Maharashtra deputy chief minister Ajit Pawar and state water resources minister Sunil Tatkare were on Saturday given a clean chit by a special investigation team (SIT) appointed to probe alleged irregularities in the state’s irrigation sector.

Water expert Madhav Chitale has given a clean chit to the deputy chief minister Ajit Pawarand his predecessors and his successor holding the water resources ministry during the implementation of a slew of irrigation projects in the state. SIT, whose report was tabled by the state water resources minister Sunil Tatkare in the state assembly on the last day of the monsoon session today, has observed that there was no scam as alleged by the opposition and NGOs.

SIT has put onus on the officials of the irrigation corporations for various lapses. SIT has found out systemic and individual faults in the irrigation department and irrigation corporations and recommended penal and other measures.
